Diamond Guide

Every Vanior piece is set with certified lab-grown diamonds. Use this guide to understand the two grades that most affect how a diamond looks: colour and clarity.

Diamond colour

Understanding colour

Colour grades run from D to Z, by how much warmth a white diamond shows. These are the six grades most people choose between.

WhitestWarmer
D
Colourless

Icy and pure. The whitest grade there is.

Offered at Vanior
E
Colourless

Looks identical to D; only a lab can tell them apart.

Offered at Vanior
F
Colourless

White to the eye and beautiful in any metal.

Offered at Vanior
G
Near colourless

A whisper of warmth, seen only beside whiter stones.

H
Near colourless

Reads white in gold; slightly warm next to D–F.

I
Near colourless

Gentle warmth that shows more in larger stones.

At Vanior: every piece comes with E colour. Choose F to save $150, or D for the whitest grade. White gold shows colour the most; yellow and rose gold hide small differences.

Diamond clarity

Understanding clarity

Clarity grades the tiny natural features inside a diamond, judged by a grader under 10× magnification. The fewer and smaller they are, the higher the grade.

IF
Internally flawless

No marks inside under 10× magnification, only the faintest surface traces. Exceptionally rare.

VVS1 · VVS2
Very, very slightly included

Marks so tiny that a trained grader struggles to find them, even under magnification.

Offered at Vanior
VS1 · VS2
Very slightly included

Small marks seen only under magnification. Eye-clean, and excellent value.

Offered at Vanior
SI1 · SI2
Slightly included

Marks are easier to find under magnification and may be visible to the eye.

At Vanior: every piece comes with VVS2 clarity. Choose VS1 to save $100, or VVS1 for our cleanest grade. All stones are certified by IGI.
